Sometimes its hard to write because its hard to recapture the right stuff in your mind to do it. I feel like dancing and a lot of other things are the same way. Saying "I don't feel like" doing something mostly means that I can't wholeheartedly commit my mind to that action. So, I can sit there (or stand there) and do nothing, or I can what... come up with a Plan B?
There must be some metaphysical current in the world and when we find it and go with the flow, that is "inspiration." What is luck or fortune but being where the current is flowing for you? You can call it God or you can call it a muse but maybe this paranormal flow has no "name."
Perhaps you can call it magic. How else can you explain success and failure? Effort? Effort is what you need when you have no inspiration. Tenacity is what you need when you have neither. Desperation is what you have when you have nothing.
The Ninth Avatar, Thomas Redpool Goes To Hell, Scions of the Shade, and other upcoming projects.
Something is always in the works.

Periodical... paradoxical?

I haven't been doing much with this blog so far. Perhaps I should use it to complain about how much I haven't been doing lately... kind of like I do with my hard copy journals. I always complain in them about how I can never journal on a schedule and blah blah blah. Of course, I blog on MySpace practically all the time. People have poked me for doing 2-3 blogs a day in the past. Now, of course, I've calmed down a bit since I had not much better to do at my job than type for an hour at a time about my feelings. But I am still writing a book.
Actually, I feel like I can say I've passed the "writing" stage in my novel. The book is written in the sense that the first draft is completed and I'm editing and adding to the second one. I guess I envisioned this blog to be a journey for a book, not necessarily to post the actual book on (which I've seen other people do and I just don't imagine any of you have that much patience). That means I'll have to finish this book first. I promise that the usefulness (or lack thereof) of this blog is not my sole motivation for finishing my novel.
I'm reading Poetics by Aristotle via http://www.dailylit.com. So far, it's actually been really helpful to look at the components of what he calls "poetry," which really encompasses the majority of fiction or other stories of the time, I would assume. I wonder if I can apply the concepts in there to help me out with my book. I'm pretty sure I have a clear beginning but the end seems to die away slowly, according to Cuyler, instead of wham-bang-punch-you-in-the-mouth, and the middle might actually be fine (just in dire need of editing and addition).
It'll happen. Then I'll write another book. And you can rest assured that I'll write many blog entries in the meantime. Not necessarily here of course... *trailing off*

Words/Pages

I just calculated the following table of words-to-pages.
I use MS Word, 12pt Verdana, Portrait-style.
60,000 words / 153 pages = about 392 words per page average
That means...
70,000w / 392wpp = about 178 pages
and...
80,000w / 392wpp = about 204 pages
Considering how much I've written on this particular story so far, this doesn't seem impossible.

Initial Post of Initial Draft

This blog is for my thoughts on writing and whatnot. At some point, I may transfer over some of my MySpace blog posts having to do with writing, or I may just say "f*ck it!" to them and write all new ones.
