I do believe I have finished the novel. I've been working on it so much this week that it was bound to happen. Admittedly, after glancing back over parts that I "flagged" in my "to do" list of corrections, I did cross some of the items off. Turns out I was satisfied with how I put it the first time through. Other parts, however, required rewriting of entire chapters (just 2, I don't want to make it sound like a big deal). All told, the two parts are combined into one large volume consisting of 75 chapters plus Prologue, Interlude, and Epilogue. The "final" word count is 154,970.
And yes, I am planning on sending it out to a publisher that accepts unsolicited submissions next week.
The Ninth Avatar, Thomas Redpool Goes To Hell, Scions of the Shade, and other upcoming projects.
Something is always in the works.

Another status update

Wow, it has been almost a month since I posted on any of my blogs. Shocking. It's been a busy summer. The weather's been warm here in Denver and I've been doing a lot out in it. Riding my bike to the bus stop instead of driving, going to barbecues, that kind of thing. I haven't set aside much time for blogging but I have been fighting tooth and nail for the past month to do some editing.
Being a member of my writing group has reminded me that I really need to finish up this project so that I can move onto the next one. This week has been super-productive and I have finally etched out a To Do list of things I need to alter and add before I can open the champagne and send it off to another publisher. I even have the publisher picked out, so that step is done.
The combined novel still sits at 152,000 words and then some. Hopefully it will stick right around this count after I'm done. From some research I've done, I think this would translate into about 400 pages of novel, which I'm satisfied with. I believe it will be a good debut but I'm getting ahead of myself with all of this. It is good work, though. I really like what I've done, I enjoy working on it and reading parts that I forgot about. I get pretty excited, I'm not going to lie, and I have the endorsement of someone who has read the whole thing. I really don't want to do a bunch of horn-tooting, but it does feel good to inch closer to completion doing something I truly enjoy.
So there you have it. I've been busy but I have been making time to do my edits and otherwise work on the book. I'm hoping to have my list checked off by the end of August (or mid-September at the very latest). Stay tuned, exciting things just around the corner!
