Funnily enough, I self-published The Ninth Avatar before it was picked up by Trapdoor. The amount of work involved has actually been a giant deterrent to going through it again with this project, but my mind is starting to change on that.

I like the idea of self-publishing, and I'm sure I'll do it one of these days. Might be sooner rather than later. So go for it! If nothing else, you'll learn a ton about what's involved so you'll know whether it's something you want to attempt again with, perhaps, a story that you're more invested in.
